Curve Digital and new indie studio Solar Sail Games have announced Smoke and Sacrifice, a gorgeous hand-illustrated survival RPG - best described as a steampunk Don't Starve in a Feudal Japanese painting. Which sounds awesome to us.

To see what we mean, check out the trailer (embedded below). Smoke and Sacrifice is a fantasy survival RPG that tells the tale of Sachi, a young mother trying to discover the fate of her child. There's a full ecosystem at play in the world supposedly, with creatures and plantlife foraging, breeding, and hunting one another - and Sachi has to survive in this world long enough to unravel the story.
Tancred Dyke-Wells, Co-Founder of Solar Sail Games and who's worked on the likes of Battalion Wars, Emperor: Battle For Dune, and the underrated House of the Dead: Overkill, said:

With both myself and Neil Millstone (the other studio founder) having produced games for major studios, Smoke and Sacrifice is an opportunity for us go back to our roots and create a genuinely intimate story in a compelling world. We wanted to combine a meaningful narrative with the challenges of survival gameplay.
