Obsidian had recently revealed a new detail about the voice cast of Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. The previous title was partially voice-acted, with major plot-important conversations having full audio, but most of the dialogues being text-only. During the crowdfunding phase of Deadfire, one of the stretch goals was to double the budget dedicated to recording voice lines for dialogues, and now we know where that budget is going - the entire cast of Critical Role will be lending their voices to characters in the game.

Critical Role is a streaming group composed of Matthew Mercer (Final Fantasy XV, Overwatch, Monster Hunter World), Travis Willingham (Batman: The Telltale Series, Middle Earth: Shadow of War), Laura Bailey (Gears of War 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, The Last of Us 2) and Ashley Johnson (Blindspot). Mercer, who voiced party members Aloth Corfiser and Edér Teylecg as well as the male “Sinister” variant of the player character’s voice, will return to his previous characters. As for the others, no details as to what characters they will voice have been given. Critical Role frequently livestreams Dungeons and Dragons sessions.
Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire will be released for PC on the 8th of May. Console versions will launch later in 2018.
