Worlds Adrift, the new MMO from Bossa Studios, the creators of I Am Bread and Surgeon Simulator, will get a proper Early Access release next month on May 17.
The game is described as a community crafted MMO in that Bossa want the community to contribute to the shaping of the game from conception onwards.
Worlds Adrift is currently in Open Beta and is available to buy on Steam, but this will be the proper Early Access release on course to the final release. Bossa have said that it will cost £19.49 / $24.99 / €22.99, which is cheaper than the previous "Founder Packs".
Henrique Olifiers, CEO and co-founder of Bossa Studios, said about their game's release into Early Access:
When we went into Closed Beta in May last year, we couldn’t have envisioned the sheer amount of quality feedback we would receive from our inspiring community. At times, this completely shifted our production’s scope, and as a result, helped us truly hone Worlds Adrift’s vision, and has got it to this unique place. We now feel ready to take the game to a much wider audience, and work even more closely with the players to ensure we continue to learn and improve it. This is another reason why we label Worlds Adrift as the first Community-Crafted MMO."
You can see the new trailer for the game below. While it is certainly unusual for a game to be made available to buy on Steam, under Early Access, and not be the actual Early Access release, we're hopeful that this will allow Bossa to make another leap forward with their promising-looking MMO. I mean, captaining your own Skyship and travelling between islands like a flying Sea of Thieves or an MMO Skies of Arcadia? What could be more exciting?
