Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire allows players to used console commands with the developer console, infamously known as the “cheat engine”, to alter stats and variables in the game. This is usually used for cheats, however in a game like Deadfire, one can make use of console commands to quickly set-up and test a particular party composition before committing to it in a “proper” game environment.
Many of the commands are shared with Deadfire’s predecessor, Pillars of Eternity. Famously, console commands were used during the backer beta phase of the game to reveal assets present in the game files but locked out of the playable versions themselves. These included various clothing items and weapons - but since now the game has been released in full, you can peruse the assets to your heart’s content without any worry.
You can access the developer console with the tilde (~) key. The console commands are as follows:
Iroll20s - this is the cheat engine enabling/disabling command. The engine must be enabled for the other codes to work, and entering it again will deactivate the other codes. Enabling the cheat engine will disable achievements for that save file.
God - pretty self-explanatory, enables a standard “god mode”.
HealParty - this is also rather clear, it restores the endurance and health of all party members.
UnlockAll - unlocks all doors and containers on the current map.
FindGameData Example_Search - this will allow you to view the details of whatever item you type in, regardless of whether you have it in your inventory or not. The syntax format of searching for items is type_slot_attribute, with attribute being optional. Examples would be “Robe_Armor_Fine” or “Pistol_Exceptional”.
GiveItem [item] - using the same syntax as the item data command, this will allow you to add any item in the game to your inventory.
GivePlayerMoney [amount] - speaks for itself.
AddExperience [amount] - all party members given the amount of experience specified.
AddExperienceToLevel [level] - all party members leveled up to the number given.
CraftingDebug - will add a large quantity of all crafting materials to the player’s inventory, basically providing the necessary materials for all recipes.
FreeRecipesToggle - this allows you to craft items without having the necessary ingredients.
Invisible - makes your character and companions invisible to NPCs.
NoFog - reveals the current map.
ToggleSpellLimit - removes all per encounter and per rest ability restrictions.
Unlock Bestiary - Reveals all full bestiary entries.
