The sci-fi shooter MMO Defiance was initially released back in 2013 alongside an accompanying TV series airing on Syfy. While neither received particularly glowing reviews, neither was panned either, with the MMO still running today - though it did switch to a Free-to-Play model - and the series went on to a 3rd season before cancellation. The franchise was seemingly left to quietly expire, however Trion surprisingly announced a full-fledged reimagining of the game, earlier this year.
With the Defiance 2050 Closed Beta coming up this weekend, we wanted to let you know what the release times, and how big the download size will be.
Defiance 2050 Beta Release Times
The Defiance 2050 Closed Beta will start on the 20th April and end on the 22nd April. Here's the release times for your region:

Defiance 2050 Beta Download Size
The Defiance 2050 Closed Beta download size will come in at 17.79GB. Pre-loading is available right now.
The game is set to be released later this year following the closed beta test, for which you can sign up already. The game will feature co-op encounters, narratively driven story missions and PvP game modes, however Trion is rather tight-lipped about the specifics. Based on the media released about the game so far, it's likely that the title will be mechanically very similar to Defiance, however a vast array of underlying systems will be overhauled, both to better fit an F2P model and to address many of the criticisms the previous title received.
Due to this major overhaul, direct character and progress transfers between Defiance and Defiance 2050 will not be possible, however character and loadout slots - which could be purchased in the previous title, and were 'rewards' for the buying players after the shift to F2P - will be transferred. Additionally, players who unlock achievements in Defiance will be rewarded with premium currency in Defiance 2050.
The closed beta will run between April 20-22, with a full release date yet to be announced. The console versions will also be getting a closed beta test, but that will come a few weeks after the PC test.
