Have your Battletech Save Game files gone missing? You’ve been stomping across the battlefield in your giant Mech. With a tactician’s mind and a warrior’s heart you vie for victory in the excellent, newly released Battletech. And while the game offers a solo campaign, skirmish mode, and multiplayer experience, your most challenging foe may just be its save game issues. Players are turning to Twitter and the game’s forums to voice their concern over disappearing save games. Lucky for you we have the solutions your arsenal needs to recover your missing save games and continue your hero’s journey.
While it is important to note that new releases are prone to bugs and glitches, something like losing a save game can be infuriating, especially if you’ve invested hours toward completing the campaign. It is safe to say that developer Harebrained Schemes is hard at work on a patch but in the meantime, their official response on the Steam Discussions page should suffice:
“PSA: If your saves do not appear when loading, restart the game! Gotten a few threads about disappearing saves but it does seem that for most users they appear once again after a game restart! Please give this a try before filing new threads! :)” said TheLetterZ (Developer)
However, after some initial investigating this fix hasn’t worked for everyone. Here a few other methods players have suggested:
Turn off Steam Cloud Synchronization:
Right-Click Battletech. Choose "Properties," and select the "Updates" tab. Uncheck the bottom box under the Steam Cloud header next to "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for BATTLETECH."
Disable Battletech’s DLC:
Some Steam users have suggested disabling the game’s DLC to recover lost save games. Simply right-click the game in Steam, select Properties, click on the DLC tab, and deselect any DLC installed. Then fire up the game and see if you can get back to your previously saved turn-based, Mech-stomping battles.
GOG Galaxy:
GOG players have been encouraged to use the Verify/Repair option in GOG Galaxy. Do this by selecting the game in GOG. Then click the "More" menu button that appears next to "Play" and hover over "Manage,” then click "Verify/Repair.” If it works, you should see your save games in the Load Menu.
If your Battletech save games have disappeared from your load menu, the fixes above should help get you back in the battle. If you are still having problems, be heartened to know Harebrained Schemes is well aware of the issue and is working to get this patched and behind them.
