The Far Cry 5 quest 'What They Carried' presents players with one of the most difficult missions in the game - tracking down 12 Vietnam Lighters for Wendell Redler.
There are two ways to get these: either buy an expensive map, or use our handy guide! So here are All Vietnam Lighter Locations in Far Cry 5!

Far Cry 5 Wendell Redler Location
Wendell Redler can be found at the Redler Residence on the map point above, quite close to the town of Fall's End in John's Region. He'll give you the mission 'What They Carried', with the promise that collecting all the Vietnam Lighters gains you access to his special weapons stash. It better be good for all the work we're putting in. Note: these can be done in any order.
Far Cry 5 All Vietnam Lighter Locations
Vietnam Lighter 1 (Woody): The first is quite close by, in Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm in John’s Region. You probably passed it on the way here, as it's where you get Boomer the dog. There's a bunker here out back, and the Vietnam Lighter is on a chair in the corner.
Vietnam Lighter 2 (Stanford): The Elliot Residence in Jacob’s Region, just south of the FANG Centre where you get Cheeseburger. The Holdouts Prepper Stash quest should start. Solve it to get the stash and the lighter - the entrance is in the shed with the American flag on it, and the lighter itself is on a table under a map of the area (and another flag).
Vietnam Lighter 3 (Crow): East of Hope County Jail is the Abercrombie Residence in Faith’s Region. Here you’ll find a bunker behind the house, and the Vietnam Lighter sitting on a metal shelf with various equipment to the left of the television.
Vietnam Lighter 4 (Kev): This time to the North-West of Hope County Jail, and west of Moonflower Trailer Park, in Faith’s Region, the Counselor’s Cabin is in the area above in the woods off the path. There’s another bunker you can enter, and inside you’ll find the Lighter once again sitting on a metal shelf similarly to Crow's.
Vietnam Lighter 5 (Joe): West of Cedar Lake in Jacob’s Region in the unmarked area above. There will be a cliff overlooking the lake with a bunker on the very edge. The Lighter is on another of those metal shelves, next to two blue barrels.
Vietnam Lighter 6 (Smiley): In the mountains of Whitetail State Park in Jacob’s Region is Whitetail Park Visitor. This spot is part of a main quest so you can wait for that if you like. The lighter is in the Information Center, on a metal shelf below a big wooden logo of the Park.
Vietnam Lighter 7 (Lefty): Between Clagett Bay, Langford Lake and Widow’s Creek in Jacob’s Region is a bunker. There's a shack there with a bunker. The lighter is inside on a short wooden table with a small TV on it.
Vietnam Lighter 8 (Tim): It's in the McCoy Cabin slightly to the West of Peaches Taxidermy in Faith’s Region. Just outside the cabin to the right is a little green structure concealing the bunker. The lighter is on a shelf in the back room.
Vietnam Lighter 9 (Russel): This one is found in the McClean Residence just inside Faith’s Region, to the East of Dutch’s Island where the game begins. This red cabin with a green roof has the bunker right out in front of it. The lighter is on a blue bunk bed in the back room.
Vietnam Lighter 10 (Danny): This one is found in the Harris Residence in the mountains of John’s Region, South-West down the main road from Rae-Rae’s Pumpkin Farm, North of Fall's End. The bunker entrance is inside a small shed, and the Vietnam Lighter is once again on a metal shelf next to two barrels. Getting déjà vu now.
Vietnam Lighter 11 (Dusty): This one's at the Miller Residence in the South of John’s Region, North of Orville Creek. Next to a white shed is the bunker entrance. The Vietnam Lighter is on the floor this time, next to the bed.
Vietnam Lighter 12 (Dom): Our last stop and the final Vietnam Lighter in Far Cry 5 is the Fillmore Residence in John’s Region. Inside a small shed on the property is the bunker, and Dom's Vietnam Lighter is on one of those metal shelves opposite the desk.
