7 Days to Die’s community is nothing if not dedicated, weathering long breaks between major releases, especially while waiting for the game’s Alpha 20 release date. But one year after the Early Access title’s last major update, it seems like the players’ patience might just be rewarded.
7 Days to Die developer The Fun Pimps has kicked off a new dev stream series dedicated to Alpha 20 and its content, sharing a bit more about its long-awaited release date during its first such stream.
Although the devs have yet to commit to a fixed release date for 7 Days to Die’s Alpha 20, they are hoping to have it out on the experimental branch close to Halloween, with the full launch hopefully arriving later in 2021, as spotted on Reddit. These dates are tentative and may change, but they might just show that we’re getting close to trying out the update ourselves.
The developer has invested in growing its team to become 60 members strong, and assigned 90% of its staff to work on the update for the past year. It also intends to see 7 Days to Die going gold at some point in 2022.
You can check out the 2-hour long dev stream for yourself, to get more details on the content included in 7 Days to Die’s Alpha 20, when its release date comes around. From redone zombie models, to harder survival rules, and random generation updates, there’s a lot to see.
As October 2021 came to a close, developer The Fun Pimps updated the forum thread dedicated to Alpha 20, targeting a November 2021 release on the experimental branch.
In mid-November it was updated again, reflecting that Alpha 20 is now expected to launch in the first part of December 2021.
As the final month of 2021 rolled in, developer The Fun Pimps confirmed that the experimental version of 7 Days to Die’s Alpha 20 would go live on December 6, following a streamer weekend. Here are its patch notes. The stable version released a bit over two weeks later, on December 22.
