Although A Plague Tale: Innocence still has a bit to go until release, publisher Focus Home Interactive has revealed a handful of new screenshots that offer another look at the game’s take on medieval France.
The new images showcase some more of the game’s environments which appear to be quite varied. From dimly lity city streets, to ravaged towns and lush gardens, plague-stricken medieval France has certainly kept at least some of its beauty.
“Rats swarm and chaos descends over medieval France as war rages. Young siblings Amicia and Hugo must make their way through the desolate and plague-ridden landscapes as they search for shelter.”, the press release reads, giving a brief summary of what the game is about.
In guiding Amicia and Hugo, players will have to avoid both the Inquisition and deadly swarms of rats that will, sooner rather than later, become a common sight. Fire is the two protagonists’ friend when it comes to getting past rats but the hungering enemy can be turned into an involuntary ally if directed towards soldiers who’d stop the two in their tracks.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is scheduled to release next year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
