Age of Wonders 4 marks the highly anticipated return to fantasy for the 4X strategy series. Its emphasis on customization promises to offer a bit of a different experience when compared to its predecessors, which is why you may be wondering if crossplay will be available at launch.
AoW4 cross-platform support would allow players to joining multiplayer matches without having to worry about which version of the game they purchase. Given how it is one of many multi-platform titles in publisher Paradox Interactive’s catalog, the feature’s addition would be very much welcome.
Age of Wonders 4 Crossplay
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Age of Wonders 4 crossplay will be available at release. At least for a while, we will likely be stuck exclusively playing multiplayer within our platform’s ecosystem.
Developer Triumph Studios has, however, chimed in on the matter, giving us a clearer picture of whether or not we can expect AoW4 cross-platform support to land at a later date.
“We have never said we are not doing cross-play. We have said that it’s something we want to do and are looking into,” it said, replying to a Steam user’s question on the matter back in March.

In late April, it provided another update on the matter, making us more optimistic regarding the feature’s inclusion.
“We’ll have a handy infographic with the specifics available somewhere before launch, but at launch we won’t be able to support cross-play. We aim to have it available within a few weeks though.”
Simply put, unless plans change or something unexpected occurs, we could be getting Age of Wonders 4 cross-platform support in the first couple of weeks following the game’s launch.
That is what we know so far about whether or not Age of Wonders 4 crossplay will be available at release. For more on the game, check out its post-launch plans and whether or not we can expect it on Xbox Game Pass.
