Valve currently relies on four different terms to clarify a game’s Steam Deck compatibility. Depending on the title, it can be verified, playable, unsupported, or unknown.
There’s a bit more nuance than you’d expect going into what they truly mean, but we’ll keep things simple and solely focus our attention on where Age of Wonders 4 is right now.
As of May 2023, Age of Wonders 4’s Steam Deck support status is officially playable. This essentially means that the game is functional on the handheld device, but may have elements that are harder to interact with or configure, such as small text.

Developer Triumph Studios addressed the subject prior to the game’s launch, confirming in a Reddit AMA from early April, that getting Age of Wonders 4 Steam Deck verified was part of its plans.
“Definitely something we are looking into,” the developer replied to a fan asking about whether or not that would happen.
Although it was officially labeled as unknown, until very close to release, the title seems to run well on Valve’s handheld device. That is what you need to know about Age of Wonders 4’s Steam Deck status.
