Aliens: Fireteam Elite will have us unloading Pulse Rifle and Smartgun rounds into countless opponents this August, either alongside AI or other players. Since it’s a multiplatform title with a heavy focus on co-op and teamwork, it’s only natural to ask about whether or not crossplay and cross-platform support are part of its multiplayer experience.
The benefits of including crossplay into multiplayer games include having a bigger pool of players to draw from when matchmaking. But cross-platform support also gives the development team additional things to worry about and may not be part of the vision for the game. Here’s what we currently know about its state in Aliens: Fireteam Elite.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite Crossplay Support?
At the moment, there are no signs that point towards Aliens: Fireteam Elite featuring crossplay support at launch, which means that the multiplayer game will be playable only with other users on the same platform.
The subject of cross-platform support was absent during the multiplayer game’s reveal but was addressed later in June, when Cold Iron Studios CEO Craig Zinkievich told Gamespot that “there is currently no plan for cross-play at this time.”
Although the feature won’t be in at launch, there’s still a chance to see it added at some point later down the line. We’ll scan the internet for any news regarding Aliens: Fireteam Elite crossplay and cross-platform support and update this article as soon as we learn more.
