THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have announced the standalone prologue for the upcoming Alone in the Dark reimagining is now available to download for free on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC.
Alone in the Dark: Grace features young Derceto resident Grace Saunders in a short combat-less standalone prologue. It acts as a mood and context setter, so will feature no spoilers for the main game if that concerns you.

It’s a clever reference to a minor complementary game that was released in conjunction with the original Alone in the Dark 2. This side experience also highlighted Grace, who found herself trapped in a toy shop, in a brief game titled “Jack in the Dark”.
The demo can be found on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Steam.
Here’s a list of system requirements you’ll need in order to run the demo on PC, and it’s likely these will be similar for the full experience in October.
Minimum Requirements:
- Intel Core i5- 8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- 8 GB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 570
Recommended Requirements:
- Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- 16GB RAM
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700
Pieces Interactive has indicated that they are considering including the demo as an extra feature on the physical disc release. The demo duration is anticipated to be approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
It’s the same demo that was available to attendees at Pax East and the Tokyo Game Show, although this version includes an additional cut scene at the end.
The Alone in the Dark remake/reimagining is created by Swedish studio Pieces Interactive, headed up by former Frictional Games developer Mikael Hedberg. It will release this Halloween season on October 25.
