Some Apex Legends errors are more mysterious than others. The Unable to connect to EA servers error is one such example, stopping you in your tracks from progressing through the current season without explicitly telling you why.
Apex Legends' Unable to connect to EA servers error tends to pop up every now and then. While there doesn't seem to be a guaranteed permanent fix for it, we do have a handful of tips that could help you get past it. Read on below to find out why it occurs and how you could fix it.
From what we can tell, Apex Legends' Unable to connect to EA servers error is usually caused by something on EA and Respawn's end. This means that, in most cases, it should only be a matter of time before a fix is deployed. Sadly, this also means that you can mostly just wait for that to happen, which isn't ideal, especially if you were hoping to only play a quick round.
It's a good idea to check the Apex Legends server status and popular boards to see if other people are experiencing it. If that's the case, patience is your best bet.
Should the issue persist, there are a few things you could try to remedy it, but keep in mind that these potential fixes aren't guaranteed to work for everyone.
Firstly, make sure that you've added the Origin and Steam clients as an exception to whatever Firewall/antivirus software you might be using. Sounds simple, but apparently this has solved the issue in a variety of cases. A VPN can also occasionally render you unable to connect to EA servers in Apex Legends.
Additionally, you might have to unblock certain Internet ports to get rid of the error. Depending on your particular router, you might have a harder or easier time of getting this done. In any case, be sure to open the following ports:
TCP: 80; 443; 9960-9969; 1024-1124; 3216; 18000; 18120; 18060; 27900; 28910; 29900
UDP: 1024-1124; 18000; 29900
If that doesn't help, either, here's more potential solutions to the problem:
- run Origin or Steam as administrator
- set the correct time and date on your OS
- clear Origin cache data
- clear temporary files on your OS
- flush DNS cache
- reset Windows Host files on your OS
Depending on your particular setup and the issue you are facing, any number of these may or may not help.
