Apex Legends is gearing up for its Fight Night Collection event, the first to take place during both its seventh season – which started in November 2020 – and the new year. Better yet, players won’t have to wait too long until it starts, as its release date is very, very close.
Following December’s Holo-Day Bash 2020, Apex Legends’ Fight Night Collection event will do things a bit differently, integrating its Airdrop Escalation Takeover limited-time mode directly into the main battle royale game mode. Previously, such game modes benefitted from their own separate playlist.
Apex Legends Fight Night Collection event’s release date is locked down to today, January 5. Starting at 10 AM PT/6 PM GMT, players descending onto the battle royale’s maps will notice an increased amount of supply drops. This is, actually, the Airdrop Escalation Takeover limited-time mode at play.
A cluster of four supply drops are made available at the start of each match, more being added with each round. Inside each of them, you’ll find a fully-kitted weapon. The tier of these weapons depends on the round their supply drops arrive on the map.
During the first round, they reward level two weapons. Players surviving until the fourth round and who end up looting a supply drop can get red armor and crate weapons.
Apex Legends’ Fight Night Collection event also features a Pathfinder Town Takeover that forces players to engage in melee combat without having to worry about outside interference. In between leaving an imprint of your fist on opposing players’ faces, you can also shatter loot balls to grab rare items that you can use once you step outside the takeover’s area.
As with previous Collection events, Fight Night also adds 24 new items as well as a new rewards track. Unlocking all these items grants a fiery Heirloom Axe for Gibraltar. Those who miss out on some of these cosmetics or don’t feel like chasing all of them will be able to craft Gibraltar’s Heirloom after the event ends.
These boots are made for walking all over you. 👢

Should your matches take you to Apex Legends’ newest map, Olympus, you’ll see that friendly MRVNs have returned and they’re quite eager to reward players with items. You can get an idea of what you’ll receive by looking at the faces shown on their screens, as follows:
- White sad face = Common level 1 loot
- Neutral blue face = Rare level 2 loot
- Pleased purple face = Epic level 3 loot
- Very Happy yellow face = Legendary Level 4 loot
Alternatively, you can also shoot the MRVNs – to deny other players from looting them or simply because you’re evil –, which might prompt them to drop their arm. Take it with you until you spot another MRVN who’s missing one and you could also get rewarded. That’s redemption, right?
Apex Legends’ Fight Night Collection event also introduces a smaller set of balance tweaks and bug fixes which you can check out in this article on the game’s website. For more on the battle royale, here’s when we expect Season 8 to start.
