Developer Respawn Entertainment has revealed the first batch of details regarding Apex Legends Season 4, including its release date, new character and more.
Apex Legends Season 4 celebrates the battle royale title’s one-year anniversary, offering a handful of log-in rewards. These include a Paper Crane gun charm, three emblems and an XP boost.
Apex Legends Season 4 Release Date
Titled Assimilation, Apex Legends Season 4’s release date is set for next month, on February 4. Keen observers will notice that it’s the same date as when the game launched last year.
Season 4 will bring about some changes to the Apex Legends map, although specific details weren’t revealed just yet.
Apex Legends Season 4 Character
Apex Legends Season 4’s new Legend was revealed to be none other than Forge. A five-time Hyperfighting Federation champion that’s definitely hit the gym more than some of the other characters, the Hammond Robotics-sponsored legend was seemingly killed off shortly after being announced.
His killer is none other than Season 4’s actual first new character, which is the ruthless assassin Revenant. You can see just how lethal he is in the Season 4 announcement trailer linked below and get an idea of what he’ll be able to do on the battlefield from our article covering Revenant’s abilities.
Apex Legends Season 4 Weapon
The arsenal available to players expands with the Sentinel, which is the new weapon being introduced in Apex Legends Season 4.
A bolt-action sniper rifle, it brings power to the mix while setting itself aside from other sniper rifles through its Charge mechanic.
Apex Legends Season 4 Ranked Mode
Apex Legends Season 4 will introduce the new Master Tier to its ranked mode which replaces the Apex Predator Tier. Essentially, reaching 10,000 RP or more puts in in Master Tier as of Season 4. Apex Predator will remain the topmost Tier, being limited to the top 500 players per platform. Players will also have to work towards maintaining their position in the Apex Predator Tier this season.
Season 4 will also see the introduction of Ranked Splits. The Season is now made up of two Splits, played on different maps. Split 1 takes place between February 3 and March 23 on World’s Edge while Split 2 heads to Kings Canyon between March 24 and May 5.
Ranks will be reset between splits and players will earn the rewards associated with the highest rank they’ve reached in either Split. Having the same rank in both Splits gets you an animated version of your rank badge as a bonus.
Apex Legends Season 4 Battle Pass
The Apex Legends Season 4 Battle Pass will contain “Over 100 exclusive items including Legendary skins, Apex Packs, Loading Screens, Music Packs, and more”</b>, which is similar to previous Battle Passes. Here’s everything we know about its price.
Apex Legends Season 4 Map Changes
World’s Edge wil see quite a few changes in Apex Legends Season 4, part of developer Respawn Entertainment’s effort to “get players to make new decisions”. The biggest change, by far, is The Planet Harvester which Hammond Robotics has plopped just over the Fuel Depot and is using to extract precious metals.
The Harvester emits a red beam that can be seen from the entirety of World’s Edge and which pinpoints the center of the map. As for its layout, it’s a multi-level structure with long hallways leading to its center.
Dropping a massive metal extractor in the center of the map has split Capitol City into two zones, now called Fragment East and Fragment West. The fissure separating them can only be crossed in two locations which, with the right teammates, can be turned into proper chokepoints.
The fissure caused by the Harvester’s deployment will deal 25 damage to anyone unfortunate enough to jump or fall into it and slowly carry them back up while in third person. Initially, it used to instantly kill players, but on live servers it will turn them into a slowly moving target.
The Survey Camp is a new, small location found between the Epicenter and Skyhook. It’s meant to take attention away from the bigger zones and, to that extent, features Weapon Racks which guarantee weapons are guaranteed to spawn in the location.
