Publisher Focus Entertainmetn and The Surge developer Deck13 today unveiled the first gameplay trailer for upcoming action-RPG Atlas Fallen, giving us a better look at its weapons, enemies, and world.
Atlas Fallen’s gameplay trailer shows off several locations that belong to the same sand-covered biome. The game’s rough environments are populated by a variety of large beasts which we’ll have to take down using our trusty shapeshifting Gauntlet.

During combat, the Gauntlet can take on the shape of three weapons: the Dunecleaver, the Sandwhip, and the Knuckledust.
The first is “a heavy weapon that does wonders when it comes to dealing very impactful area-of-effect damage to your foes,” the developer explains in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
The Dunecleaver can alternate between an axe form that allows you to perform large sweeps and a hammer form that’s perfect for crowd control.
The Sandwhip then “combines the fast swings of a sword with the wide sweeps of a whip,” emphasizing mobility and building up Momentum most efficiently.
Using its Sandwhip Hook move, you can close in the distance to your enemies, but it can also help keep them at a safe distance.
The Knuckledust “is a fist weapon that covers both forearms and grows into additional pairs of arms as your Momentum builds up.” It excels at dealing high amounts of damage to single targets, helping you quickly remove specific enemies from fights,
Outside of combat, the Gauntlet helps you dash through the air, raise structures and objects from the sand – creating new paths and uncovering treasure in the process –, as well as ripping magical seals and chains apart, allowing you to progress further.
Atlas Fallen’s story revolves around reforging the Gauntlet using items called Catalyzers and Shards. When found, the former grant you new abilities, while the latter improve your control over the Essence that is at the core of everything in the game’s world.
Atlas Fallen is currently slated to launch on May 16, heading to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. You can check out its gameplay trailer below.
