The Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘Panel From Hell’ showcase revealed a wealth of new details, such as a new Origin that lets you customize a murderer, the introduction of the game’s primary antagonist, Orin the Red, expanded character creation features, new romantic options, among other exciting updates.
Character creation has a more broad presence than that of Early Access. With it being the spotlight of the first few minutes of the panel, character creation included skin options like wrinkles, freckles, and Vitiligo pigmentation. Tiefling horns now offer a wider variety of color options, and players can select body types from an expanded range of frames, from larger to smaller.
More diverse options will be available to players upon launch:
- New tattoo designs
- Heterochromia (presence of different colored eyes in the same individual)
- Lip makeup customization
- Accessories like earrings and piercings
- Horn color customization for Tieflings
Alongside the general changes, Larian introduced their new race, the Dragonborn, a reptilian type build with dragonlike features, the choice of iridescent scales, and a variety of other scaly characteristics.
Resist or indulge in depraved impulses as you play as the Dark Urge
Embody absolute malevolence or strive towards a righteous path - that’s the decision players will grapple with when taking on the role of the Dark Urge. Unlike the other Origins, the Dark Urge is fully customizable in appearance, class, species, and gender.
Deal with the insatiable urge to kill and feed on the blood of prey and either indulge in the dark impulses or pull away from them. With the vile guidance of Sceleritas Fel, voiced by Brian Bowles (narrator in Divinity: Original Sin 2), the servant’s aim is to restore the Dark Urge to turmoil. The choice is in the hands of players to shape their journey in this captivating new storyline.
The panel revealed a third main antagonist in Baldur’s Gate 3, Orin the Red. She is an evil shapeshifter whose goal is to drench Baldur’s Gate in blood. Players will soon meet Orin, however, it is up to her when and where she decides to enter the story.
Baldur’s Gate 3 releases a month early on PC via Steam, GOG.com, and Geforce Now on August 3rd, 2023, and a little later on PS5, on September 6th, 2023.
