Flying Squirrel Entertainment is the team behind Battle Cry of Freedom, a third-person online combat game that features over 300 players battling out in the historical setting of the American Civil War.
If you’re a keen Mount & Blade: Warband player then you may have heard of Flying Squirrel Entertainment, as it’s credited with developing the ‘Mount & Musket’ modification.
Battle Cry of Freedom Release Date
Battle Cry of Freedom will allow players to take control of either the Union or the Confederates troops when it releases later on in 2022. It will feature a wide range of weaponry, including devastating artillery, rifled muskets, and deadly close-combat weapons such as bayonets, knives, and sabres.
The team also mentioned that it’s hand-crafted over 14 playable maps based on real-world locations and battlefields for launch, along with including a randomly generated map system to help keep things fresh.

- Multiple army branches, including Engineer Corps, Infantry and Heavy Artillery
- 120 unique weapons, and 20 different Artillery pieces
- Destructible environments

Battle Cry of Freedom is a very small team with only four people working on it, so it’s possible that development may be delayed upon that 2022 release year, but we’ll be watching its progress carefully and will report back when it’s near completion or if there are any beta test stages planned.
