Battlefield 2042 is one of the year’s major titles and the entry that sees the series returning to modern combat. A multiplatform, cross-generation release, a part of its community likely wants to know whether or not Battlefield 2042 is coming to the Xbox Games Pass for PC at launch.
Battlefield 2042 coming to Xbox Games Pass for PC at launch would make trying out the first-person shooter easier for players who cannot or aren’t sure if they want to commit to a full purchase.
The growth of Microsoft’s video game subscription service over the last couple of years has seen increasingly bigger titles available on day one so, in a sense, it wouldn’t be entirely outside the realm of possibility to see Battlefield 2042 included on Xbox Game Pass at some point.
Will Battlefield 2042 be on Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 doesn’t seem to be coming to Xbox Games Pass for PC, or any of the subscription service’s variants for that matter, at launch. There was no mention of it during its reveal and Microsoft’s messaging tends to be quite clear when it comes to Games Pass.
This means that if you want permanent access to the game at launch, you’ll either have to opt for a traditional purchase or subscribe to EA Play Pro, the publisher’s own take on a subscription service.
That being said, Xbox Games Pass for PC grants access to the regular version of EA Play, which means that subscribers will not only get access to the Battlefield 2042 open beta, but will also be able to trial the game for 10 hours. After those hours are up, you’ll have to resort to one of the two options above.
Once Battlefield 2042 becomes available as part of EA Play’s standard version, Xbox Games Pass for PC users will likely also get access to it. That, however, may not happen for a while, as Electronic Arts is banking on the game redeeming the series after Battlefield V divided its community.
