Publisher Nacon and developer Cyanide Studio have announced, during today’s Warhammer Skulls showcase, that Blood Bowl 3 is getting a new closed beta test which will see the debut of two new factions.
Blood Bowl 3’s latest closed beta test is available only on PC, via Steam, and kicks off today, June 1. Players who get access have until June 12 to go head to head and try their hand at winning matches through strategy, cunning, and a fair amount of violence.
Blood Bowl 3’s June closed beta test will feature six playable factions, two of which are making their debut in a Blood Bowl video game.
The Old World Alliance is made up of humans, dwarfs, halflings, and treemen. It combines “the flexibility of the humans with the resistance of the dwarfs,” according to the publisher. At the same time, you may find your human players not that fond of passing the ball, while dwarfs prefer playing independently.
The Chaos Renegades sees humans, dark elves, skaven, greenskins, and bigger Chaos units playing together. Able to recruit up to three tough players, they bring strength to the field. Being favored by the Chaos Gods, they have access to mutation skills.
Aside from these two new teams, Blood Bowl’s June closed beta also features the Black Orcs, Imperial Nobility, Elven Union, and Dwarfs.
On top of that, it will introduce a handful of new pitches. The Chaos Chosen pitch is decorated with skulls, stone pillars, and molten lava, starting out like many of its peers.
If anyone spills blood during the first half of the match, heat and lava complicate things during the second half, making sprinting players trip and fall more easily but also more susceptible to heatstroke.
Another pitch is dedicated to Nurgle, starting out as dormant. Should any death occur, the pitch awakens, making fast players more likely to fall and giving them a harder time controlling the ball. This caters to a slower game, giving Nurgle’s own team an advantage.
The Dark Elves also get their own pitch. Built over water, any touchdown scored during the first half can stir the nasty creature lurking beneath the waves. During the second half, the pitch is partly flooded, making it harder for stunned players to recover. Units also have to move slower to avoid the monster’s tentacles.
Anyone who participated in prior tests will automatically have access to Blood Bowl 3’s June closed beta. New players can sign up on the game’s official website for a chance at getting in.
Blood Bowl 3 will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch at some point in 2022.
