There are few things that can prepare you for the sheer amount of blood that is present in the Blood, Sweat, And Spears content pack for A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia. Most video games glorify violence and overstate it, whereas the modern Total War titles simply accept it as optional clutter.
Even now, it's still interesting and perhaps a tiny bit shocking to see this amount of blood being waved away in practical gameplay, and at such an impressive scale. Having said that, developers have also prepared a free update to go live alongside Blood, Sweat, and Spears, titled 'Allegiance'.

The Allegiance Update for Thrones of Britannia features a major overhaul of many areas of the game, based primarily on player feedback. This introduces greater depth and granularity to politics, a significantly-improved combat AI, and a new decree system.
There is also the titular Allegiance mechanic, which simulates the trials and tribulations that an aggressively-expanding faction faces upon capturing new territory. Lots of stuff to look forward to, for sure.
