The original Borderlands Game of the Year Edition was rejuvenated this week when developer Gearbox Software dropped its Enhanced Edition. A free upgrade to existing owners, it brings some visual polish while introducing SHiFT code support. Veterans of the title looking to jump back into it could be wondering whether there still is a Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Save Editor that works with the new edition.
Here’s what we know about a potential Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Save Editor.

Fans of the original Borderlands are probably familiarized with the WillowTree save editor, which allows them to go over set limits for things like inventory and bank slots while also setting custom amounts of skill points and experience, among other things. Trying to edit an Enhanced Edition save will, however, result in the program crashing which would suggest that it’s not a viable Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Save Editor .
That’s not entirely true, however, as there is a workaround. It just so happens that in spite of the changes ushered in by the new edition, the save games from the original Borderlands are compatible in its Enhanced Edition. All you then need to do is use WillowTree as you would regularly and modify your original Borderlands save.
Then, just boot up the Enhanced Edition and import your character. The changes should be applied, making WillowTree a viable, if not exactly ideal, Borderlands GOTY Enhanced Save Editor .
