Developer Primal Game Studio today that announced former Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 writer Brian Mitsoda has stepped in as narrative lead on Mandragora, its upcoming side-scrolling RPG.
Aside from working on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Brian Mitsoda’s credits also include games such as Dead State and Alpha Protocol.
“I am really excited to announce that I have been working with the team behind Mandragora,” Mitsoda said in a video announcement. “I first saw the project last year and I thought the art and environments look fantastic. When we started talking about my involvement, it turned out that the team’s goals for the worldbuilding and the narrative design were all influenced by games that inspired me, and it’s really been a blast so far working with everyone at Primal on Mandragora.”
Mitsoda also notes that “it’s going to take some time to get there,” but, while launch might not be right around the corner, Primal Games Studio hopes to start sharing more in-depth looks at what makes the game tick “within the next few months.”
According to its Steam page, Mandragora is set in a world in decline that’s falling prey to Entropy. Humanity isn’t faring all that well fighting the monsters that roam the land and it’s up to you, alongside whatever allies you find along the way, to save everyone.
The game certainly has a dark atmosphere and the painterly art style chosen by the developer certainly stands out.
Punishing action, several playable classes, and a progression system that lets you customize your character’s active skills are also part of the package.
You can check out Mandragora in action in the teaser trailer embedded below.
