Not content with devouring sales charts year after year, the Call of Duty franchise is heading for your tabletop with an official board game.
Arcane Wonders is creating the Call of Duty board game in association with Activision Publishing, Evolution, and Genuine Entertainment. It hopes to replicate the Call of Duty experience in a slightly more civilized environment (no guarantees there of course).
As with the PC and console games, players will take on the role of Operators. Each will have particular skills and weapons to bring to a variety of different game modes. There’s going to be team-based play too, so you can really get that trash-talking flavor of the online experience in your home.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Activision to bring the Call of Duty franchise to the tabletop,” said Bryan Pope, CEO of Arcane Wonders. “As life-long COD fans, we’ve worked hard to capture the scope, stakes, and sheer intensity of the video games in ways that COD fans and board gamers new and old will love. We’re looking forward to bringing the unforgettable fun and competitive frenzy of COD to game night for years to come.”
Arcane Wonders will announce more details in the coming months, but in the meantime, we know that pre-orders for the board game will begin on Kickstarter this coming Fall/Autumn, and a full release is set for some point in 2024.
