Circle Empires is a game that had originally been released on Game Jolt as a short demo, only for it to garner the attention of over 165 000 people. Since then, this demo has undergone further development, turning it into a fully-fledged real-time strategy, with fully overhauled art and many new features. The mechanics of this odd little game seem to focus on the players' expansion of their circle-bound kingdom, and the way in which they do so, fighting monsters along the way.
These interconnected circles also hold precious loot, boss monsters and various different buildings and resources, all of which is procedurally generated. This is why every given playthrough will differ from one another to some extent.
Players can expect no less than 18 playable factions to choose from, 12 boss enemies and over 150 different monsters to slay, all of whom will be holding their own circles for your kingdom to expand into. Circle Kingdoms promises a great variety of content, and this includes special biome kingdoms, strategies and the like. By the time you reach the endgame, you'll be juggling all sorts of different units and infrastructure, thus making for a more complex game as you go along.
Your troops will also be levelling up in combat, which means that the game may include some RPG features as well, though this hasn't been much iterated on just yet.
Circle Empires is slated for release on 8th of August on Steam and other major digital retailers, at a rather acceptable price of $7.99. Check out the launch trailer and let us know what you think!
