Plenty of people have their eyes set on Cities: Skylines 2 and, as the highly-anticipated sequel approaches, you may want to know if it benefits from some form of early access.
The concept of early access has evolved beyond its original form, most notably associated with Steam, where players could buy and play games still in development, offering feedback ahead of the official release. Lately, publishers have adopted a strategy where certain editions of a game or pre-orders grant players the privilege to play before the general public.
In the following section, we will explore if Cities: Skylines 2’s early access follows this recent trend.
Cities: Skylines 2 Early Access
With the launch happening today, Cities: Skylines 2 does not include any form of early access tied to pre-ordering or purchasing its Ultimate Edition.
This means that everyone who purchases the game, regardless of version, gets to hop in and start learning the game at the same time.
- Cities: Skylines 2 Early Access: Not available
The practice is proving increasingly controversial so, even with the sequel being a single-player game, some will breathe a sigh of release when learning about its omission.
While we cannot play Cities: Skylines 2 early, its roadmap suggests that we’ll be playing it for a while, as DLC packs are already planned.
That is what you need to know about whether or not Cities: Skylines 2 offers some form of early access.
