Publisher Slitherine has announced that World War II tactical wargame Close Combat: The Bloody First has finally entered the beta stage.
Close Combat: The Bloody First is the first title in the series developed on the Archon 3D engine. According to a press release, it “combines classic Close Combat tactical gameplay with battles fought across a wide variety of diverse 3D landscapes including craggy ridgelines, narrow valleys and dense villages”.
The full version of Close Combat: The Bloody First will have players engaging in a Grand Campaign, 3 Theatre Campaigns taking place in Tunisia, Normandy and Sicily, alongside 11 Operations and 36 battles.
The switch to 3D will allow for a greater level of detail, including modelling of different ammunition types, alongside more realistic projectile physics, troop and vehicle movement. Players can also expect, more than 50 different vehicles, 300 infantry and heavy weapon teams and over 100 weapons.
Close Combat: The Bloody First will also launch with a full scenario editor, letting players create battles of their own. Those interested in signing up for the game’s beta can do so here.
