One of the most notable features of the upcoming Conan Exiles update 3.0 is its building system overhaul. A core part of the title’s gameplay, its current form can be a bit cumbersome, especially when you need to work under pressure.
That will all change when update 3.0 arrives, according to developer Funcom, who points out that its main goal with Conan Exiles’ building system overhaul is “to make the building as effortless as possible for players using both keyboards and controllers.”
In this regard, you will interact with the whole process through a newly-built UI that can be accessed by equipping your Construction Hammer.
This new menu lists all available building pieces, crafting stations, and decorations under separate tabs. Items can also be filtered by subcategories, to make targeting specific ones easier.
A green background highlights items for which you have enough materials, while a number in the lower right corner of the icon indicates how many you can build before running out. If your desired item has a red background, you’ll have to head out and secure more materials.
The Conan Exiles building system overhaul also lets you right-click to toggle between either removing or adding different pieces. Should you quickly want to switch to a piece you already placed down, all you need to do is aim at it and press the middle mouse button. The overhaul is also designed with mods in mind, according to the developer.
“With the new UI, modders will be able to add their own sorting for placeables and building pieces by adding new gameplay tags to add new categories,” a blog post on the game’s official website reads.
Conan Exiles update 3.0 is slated to launch at some point in Q3 2022 and will also kick off the Age of Sorcery, which sees the game transitioning to a seasonal model as far as post-launch content is concerned.
