Building up your counties in Crusader Kings 3 is a slow process and the inability to convert holdings makes it tough to quickly answer situations that can, overtime, evolve in unexpected directions.
The Crusader Kings 3 Convert Holdings mod adds that option to Paradox’s latest grand strategy title, also helping you out when your new ruler’s counties aren’t quite fit for the tasks that they’re dealing with.
The CK3 Convert Holdings mod introduces three new decisions that your ruler can use to change the type of holdings in counties they personally control.

Doing so, however, comes at the same cost it would take them to build a castle, meaning that you still need to pick the right moment when you can truly spare 600 gold.
You cannot convert holdings with active constructions and may have to wait for realm priests to relinquish temples before changing their types.
The Crusader Kings III Convert Holdings mod – which you can grab from the Steam Workshop – is compatible with “pretty much all mods”, according to creator kurthakon.
This includes Cities of Wonders 2, which we’ve previously featured and introduces a fourth type of holding – the metropolis.
