Cyberpunk 2077 was eagerly anticipated from the very moment its first teaser trailer dropped. CD Projekt Red further fanned the flames earlier in August when it showed off a whole 48-minutes’ worth of gameplay from the upcoming RPG.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for a while now, we’re heading into 2019 without an official release date. A few hours ago, however, a post on Reddit popped up with information hinting at a potential 2020 release.
The news comes from a document found on website Stockwatch.pl. The document is in Polish but Reddit user dr4kun, who claims they’re a native Polish speaker and translator, relayed the important bits in English.
“We’re keeping to the estimation of a debut in Q4 of 2019, with sales of 19 million copies in Q4 alone, and income of 1.9 billion PLN (about 525 million USD). “, the document reads. Furthermore, Cyberpunk 2077 will be released simultaneously on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
An estimation is by no means confirmation but, if the translation is correct, 2020 seems to be a rather good bet for a Cyberpunk release. The Reddit post also reveals that analysts believe that Cyberpunk 2077 will overtake Red Dead Redemption 2 in terms of popularity.
Note: A previous version of the article mistakenly stated that Cyberpunk 2077 would aim for a Q4 2019 launch, attributing the source document to CD Projekt Red. After learning that the comments in it are from market analysts, the Q4 2019 referenced most likely refers to the fiscal year, which would push the actual release of the game into 2020, and has been changed accordingly.
