As brimming with life and full of opportunity as it is, Night City won’t be the only place that players get to explore next year when Cyberpunk 2077 finally launches.
Developer CD Projekt Red revealed at this year’s E3 that locations both outside and beyond Night City will be there for players to visit, although neither sound like perfect spots to catch your breath.
Cyberpunk 2077 Night City, Badlands and Cyberspace
The demo shown at this year’s E3 featured a segment where V, Cyberpunk 2077’s protagonists, enters cyberspace. Talking to Eurogamer, lead quest designer Paweł Sasko described it as “a really dangerous place”. Not only does V require the aid of several specialized netrunners to enter cyberspace, the entire process also turns V’s body into a CPU which sees him lying in a bathtub filled with ice to handle the strain.
According to Sasko, cyberspace will be accessible during some of Cyberpunk 2077’s story moments and can be explored “in some cases”.
Cyberpunk 2077 will also send players to the area surrounding Night City, called the Badlands. Quests, contracts and the main story will inevitably see V heading there, although it’s best not to expect a pretty sight.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on April 16 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
