Developer Feardemic is gearing up for the Steam Early Access launch of its cyberpunk FPS 2084, which is happening next week. The game is the result of an internal 72-hour game jam involving some of the developers behind >observer_ and Layers of Fear.
“2084 is a fast-paced First-Person Shooter with hacking mechanics. Battle your way through hordes of enemies, hack their minds to gain advantage on the battlefield, and immerse yourself in a riveting short story set in a grim cyberpunk landscape.”, the blurb on its Steam page reads.
2084 seems to feed off a mixture of hacking and shooting. Using an “array of computer hacking commands on the fly”, players can tap into the network to retreive ammo and health as they’re blasting away at foes..
The action takes place in a cyberpunk labyrinth of sorts that’s, naturally, filled with hordes of enemies.
2084 will launch on Steam Early Access on December 13 with two available modes. Story sees the player progressing through levels and smiting down bosses in order to face a final opponent. Endless mode is, as expected, a test of endurance agains never-ending waves of opponents. The developers aim to release the full version of 2084 sometime in 2020.
