Daymare 1998 is a nostalgic love-letter to the original Resident Evil games. That’s exactly what some of us have been looking for, but it seems the game’s option to remap keys isn’t readily apparent.
We looked it up, and it seems that there is no option to remap keys in Daymare 1998. While we’re not sure what the reasoning behind this is, Invader Studios has chimed in on the matter via Steam.
Can you Remap Keys in Daymare 1998?
It would seem that, by default, Daymare 1998 does not support any sort of remap keys functionality. While some have bemoaned this, the developers have mentioned that there aren’t any plans for them to add said feature to the game.
Disappointing as this may be for some, it’s worth mentioning that you can, in fact, create a customised controller profile for Daymare 1998 via Steam. You can look up a wide variety of gamepad configurations on the steamcontrollerdb.com website. Chances are that a Daymare 1998 profile will pop up there as well. However, if you’d like more control over your key mappings, you can access this functionality via Steam’s Big Picture mode.
Go to Steam > Settings > Controller > Big Picture Configuration for more details, and then prepare to sink hours into creating perfectly granular gamepad profiles for each and every game you own.
While an integrated key remap feature would be great in Daymare 1998, it’s not a complete deal-breaker even if it isn’t there, thanks to Steam. Check out the game’s detailed system requirements to see if it will run on your rig.
