Four years after its full release Deep Rock Galactic still hasn’t run out of bugs to squash and precious minerals to acquire. Judging by its 2024-2025 roadmap, the hit co-op first-person shooter is here to stay, even if its content drops are slowing down a bit.
The slower content cadence of DRG’s 2024 - 2025 roadmap can be attributed to Rogue Core, a roguelite spinoff that promises a different take on clearing Hoxxes IV of baddies while collecting (different kinds of) riches.
Deep Rock Galactic 2024-2025 Roadmap
Deep Rock Galactic’s 2024-2025 roadmap kicks off in Q1 2024, with a closed alpha for the aforementioned roguelite spinoff.
Following that, a maintenance update is set to bring various tweaks, balance changes, and fixes in March 2024.
June 2024 ushers in Season 5 which acts as a prelude to Rogue Core. We can expect a new performance pass, but other details remain undecided at the time of Deep Rock Galactic’s 2024-2025 roadmap announcement.
2025 as a whole remains shrouded in mystery with the exception of one major thing: Season 6. While it’s certainly part of developer Ghost Ship Games’ plans, no further details about it were shared just yet.
In addition to the above, we can expect a host of seasonal events like Oktoberfest to return, likely with new hats, cosmetic items, and more.
Although some will inevitably be disappointed by the smaller amount of content that makes up Deep Rock Galactic’s 2024-2025 roadmap, the developer offered a more than reasonable explanation for its decision to do so.
“In a perfect world, we’d continue full steam ahead on Deep Rock Galactic while developing Rogue Core at the same time. But we’ve only got so many helping hands on board, and only so many hours in the day,” reads an answer in the FAQ section of the roadmap’s announcement post.
“Instead of trying to do a little bit of work on each game every day, we’d rather block out bigger chunks of time where we give one project our full attention. This might not be the fastest path, but we think it’s what will allow us to give you the best games we can possibly make.”
Deep Rock Galactic remains an accomplished co-op shooter whose excellent gunplay and challenging levels provide plenty of reasons to return regularly, even with its now-yearly seasons.
Additional details regarding DRG’s 2024-2025 roadmap will likely be shared over the coming weeks and months.
