The Dreadnought boss in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, lurking within the Crystalline Caverns, presents a tough challenge at the beginning of the game and will be encountered during the fifth final wave.
After numerous attempts to defeat the Dreadnought, we’ve refined our approach and compiled some tips to help you overcome this challenge and complete the sector. These suggestions should be beneficial if you’re finding the battle difficult.
Tips to defeat the Dreadnought in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Using the Gunner Class is more effective due to its superior attack power, although the Scout can dodge and mine faster. However, this advantage becomes less critical in the fifth wave if you prepare an area in advance to easily dodge the Dreadnought’s attacks.
Patch 0.2 will introduce some changes to the Dreadnought, making the fight more challenging by adding two new abilities. The Scout may become the preferable class because he can mine faster and dodge the new Trembling Stomp ability. This ability involves the Dreadnought roaring and stomping, which causes volcanic spikes to shoot up from the ground, trapping players in preparation for a follow-up charge attack.
In the final wave of any sector, it’s advisable not to spend time mining precious resources if you can avoid it. At this stage, doing so will only slow you down when the Dreadnought makes its appearance, which occurs after you’ve destroyed all the eggs on the map.
The second new ability is Funday Games’ adaptation of the Deep Rock Galactic Dreadnought’s Swarm Bladder attack: a ranged projectile where the Dreadnought spews a cocoon that bursts open, releasing a swarm of Glyphids. Both new abilities will become increasingly lethal at higher hazard levels, in line with the Dreadnought’s scaling health and damage.
Instead, use this time to clear a path and excavate as much rock as possible, aiming to create a spacious area for evading swarms and the Dreadnought. We crafted a loop around the map with pathways leading into its center, ensuring ample space for retreat from challenging situations.
If defeating the Dreadnought is your primary objective in the sector, we suggest investing most of your gold and resources into upgrading your weapons. Equipping an ice elemental attack on your weapon can significantly slow down swarms and the Dreadnought, offering a considerable advantage during combat.
Employ these tactics and tips, and with some practice, defeating the Dreadnought should become achievable. Success hinges on understanding its attack patterns and ensuring you have adequately cleared space to create your arena within the allotted time.
