Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is now available on Steam via Early Access for the PC, but are there any plans to release it for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S?
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor transforms the iconic friendly bug-ridden co-op experience into a single-player, survival-style auto-shooter, essentially offering a Deep Rock Galactic twist on the popular Vampire Survivor game. It’s out on PC now, so players are now wondering if it’s going to be released on Consoles.
When will Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
Ghost Ship Publishing hasn’t officially confirmed a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S version yet, although one of the game’s developers commented on Reddit about a potential console release, saying that it will “start in Early Access to let the community help shape it.”
We contacted Ghost Ship Publishing to inquire about the possibility of a console release following the early access period. Still, it didn’t want to comment on any console versions.
Later in a live stream on the Horizon 2024 event, Ghost Ship Publishing said that it wants to take it one platform at a time because if it opens it up to multiple platforms right now, it will slow up updates for the PC’s early access stage.
We will provide an update if there are any plans for a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X release. Based on the brief roadmap, such a release might not occur until at least the end of this year or possibly early 2025, assuming these platforms are actually under consideration.
The roadmap offers limited information, with no clear indications of a console version. However, it does imply that the early access phase is expected to last approximately one year, during which time Funday Games plans to expand the content and solicit community feedback.
“What’s the plan from here? More weapons, biomes, artifacts? Well…basically, all of those and more. For the first few weeks after launch, we are going to focus on any immediate issues and do rapid-fire patches for a bit. When the game is in a somewhat stable state, we will start working on content based on our roadmap (what we want) and community feedback (what you want). With a bit of luck, those two have overlaps.”
Ghost Ship Publishing will soon release more details regarding its upcoming roadmap. We’ll be on the lookout to see if it provides an overview of planned content, including any information on potential console ports. Stay tuned…
