One week after its stellar launch in early access, auto-shooter sensation Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has unveiled the first version of its 2024 roadmap and the content we can expect throughout the year.
Having sold more than 500,000 copies since its release, DRG: Survivor’s future looks packed with new features and additions that flesh out its gameplay offering.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor 2024 Roadmap
First up, robot pal Bosco is due for a tune-up that aims to make him “an integral part of the game.” This will translate to a separate upgrade that makes “Bosco-builds possible.”
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s 2024 roadmap also includes a new biome that, aside from a welcome change of scenery, may also bring with it new threats.
New overclocks and artifacts are also part of developer Funday Games’ plans. It makes sense, too, since they “enable even more fun synergies and builds,” improving the game’s already high replayability.
Those of us seeking an extra challenge may also get it in the shape of biome mutators, which “add more challenges than the hazards we currently have,” possibly including an ominously sounding “Elite Threat.”
From that point on, the developer is considering a variety of other additions which it listed in no particular order:
- New Missions (e.g. Egg Hunt)
- Awesome Bosses
- Stage Events (e.g. Earthquakes in Magma Core)
- More Overclocks and Artifacts
- Cosmetics
- Daily Missions
- Assignments
- Cargo Crates
- Extra Class Mods
- Endless Mode
- Even More Weapons
- Bosco 2.0
- Vanguard Contracts
Update 1 has already been released, adding the Salt Mines, but the next patch is Update 2 in May.
Update 2 will add even more enemies and a new boss, UI improvements and more overclocks.
“In the roadmap revision 02, you will notice we have shifted around some priorities. For example, Bosco 2.0 has moved down to “later”, and the current highest priority is enemies and overclocks. This is because we think the best thing for the game right now is adding more variety across the board instead of extra layers. These priorities are likely to change in the future.”
Update 3 was the Masteries, which added the following changes including game modes, tons of new artifacts, milestones, achievements, balance changes, quality-of-life upgrades, and bug fixes.
Update 4 is planned for release in the fall of 2024 and should add Time Exclusive Dives, new Mutators, and the Azure Weald biome of Hoxxes IV.
While the above list has plenty to be excited about, it is worth remembering that the features mentioned above are subject to change and may launch in a different order.
Early access development can be particularly volatile, making it wise to keep expectations in check.
That being said, if Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s 2024 roadmap does end up delivering a steady stream of updates throughout the year, the auto-shooter should have no trouble maintaining its positions among the top most played games on Steam.
