Trion Worlds has announced that the new Crusader character class for Defiance 2050 will be coming to the online shooter-MMO this Fall, bringing a more melee-focused class to the game for the first time.
The Defiance 2050 Crusader will be a "bruiser class" that comes equipped with a special hammer that they can summon at any time. However, fans aren't entirely happy about this news, since they are concerned Trion is focusing more on paid content updates than they are on patches.

The new Crusader class was detailed by Trion on the game's website. In addition to the hammer, which characters in the class can summon at any time, other unlockable abilities include "an absorbing shield that protects and unleashes an outward attack for swift retribution" and "a massive meteor strike" which can damages and knocks back enemies in a fiery explosion. The Crusader can also leap into battle or pull enemies towards them.
Trion are advertising the 'Ultimate Class Pack' for $50, which includes Crusader, Engineer class and various other bits and pieces - although notably not the Demolitionist class. However, fans aren't happy that the developer appears to be prioritising paid content over patches or bug-fixes. Defiance 2050, like any new MMO, needs constant updates, or at least announcements of updates, to keep players playing, so let's hope the game gets patches as well as new paid content.
While you wait, here's the only current way of getting melee weapons in Defiance 2050.
