When is Patch 2.7.8 going to be released for Diablo 3? After a longer-than-expected test period on the PTR, we’ve finally received confirmation on when players can expect the game to be updated, paving the way for Season 33 later this month.
Understandably, most Diablo fans are focusing nowadays on Diablo 4 and its first-ever expansion: Vessel of Hatred. But what about players who still enjoy Blizzard’s previous take on Sanctuary and the Eternal Conflict? Diablo 3 and its Reaper of Souls expansion can be considered ‘old’ at this point, but it remains a fantastic, more streamlined action-RPG experience that still gets new patches and seasons both on PC and consoles.
When does Patch 2.7.8 Release for Diablo 3?
If you’ve been waiting for a new patch and season to drop, you’ll be happy to learn the wait is almost over now.
- Via September 27’s Season 33 preview post, it’s been confirmed that Patch 2.7.8 will drop on October 22.
Patch 2.7.8 is aimed at Mac’s ‘demon slayers’ that need compatibility updates for the latest versions of macOS and better stability fixes. The full patch notes haven’t been shared yet, but we’re not expecting further tweaks and changes.
Season 32 is set to end October 20, two days before the new patch and five days before Season 33: Shades of the Nephalem starts (October 25 at 5pm PDT).
If you’re not aware, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls’ seasons stopped getting new content long ago. However, new cosmetics are still rewarded to all players who complete their seasonal journeys and refreshed events. These seasons are built around themes, and this one is all about shadow clones of the player that will spawn when activating shrines. At the same time, Kanai’s Cube – a key element of the endgame loop – will have a fourth upgrade slot this season, making builds even more flexible.
You can check the full details and information on Season 33 here. Make sure to finish up on Diablo 3 Season 32 before October 20, though the launch of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and its Season of Hatred on October 8 might make that a bit difficult.
