Disney CEO has recently said that the company is perfectly fine with EA cancelling their Star Wars projects left and right. During Tuesday's earnings call, Bob Iger spoke about whether it would be better for Disney to license games or publish some themselves.
The conclusion was that Disney is happy with the way EA is handling Star Wars and that the relationship between the two companies is unlikely to give any time soon.
When asked about Disney's potential future involvement in video game development, the Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger said that: "“We’re good at making movies and television shows and theme parks and cruise ships and the like, we’ve just never managed to demonstrate much skill on the publishing side of games."
Iger continued by saying that Disney is well aware of the fact that they've never been all that good at self-publishing games, and that their current licensing agreements are quite agreeable, all things considered.
"We’ve had good relationships with some of those we’re licensing to, notably EA and the relationship on the Star Wars properties, and we’re probably going to stay on that side of the business," concluded Iger, without overtly referencing the numerous Star Wars cancellations we've reported on over the last few months.
