One of the questions that will pop up during your first hours with Dying Light 2 is whether or not you can repair weapons. As you begin showcasing Aiden’s combat prowess, you’ll notice that many of the sharp or blunt items you pick up have varying amounts of durability and will inevitably break from use.
You can repair weapons in Dying Light 2, but it’s not a straightforward process that guarantees you can keep that machete you love so much by your side forever. Instead, it’s tied into another system that has to do with your death-dealing tools.
Dying Light 2 Repair Weapons
In order to repair your weapons in Dying Light 2, you’ll have to make use of the game’s crafting system, which allows you to equip mods on certain weapons.
Eligible ones have up to three small circles on the right side of their icon and, yes, this does mean that you won’t be able to repair every weapon, at least from what we can tell.
If you hover over an icon of a weapon that supports mods and press C, you’ll reach a menu where you can see all your available mods alongside the different slots you can equip them in.
Every time you add a mod to a used weapon, you repair a portion of its durability, highlighted in green as you hover over potential picks.
To make the most out of your axes, hammers, and knives, you could essentially use them unmodded and only apply mods when their durability gets lower.
While this does ensure your weapons last longer, you’re also not immediately taking advantage of the potentially devastating power of fire, frost, blast, and other awesome types of extra damage.
This is the only method to repair weapons in Dying Light 2 I’ve spotted across the 55 hours I spent with the game while reviewing it.
