INSOMNIA: The Ark has been a long time coming. Having started development way back in 2010, this free-form sci-fi RPG is the labour of love of a studio of no more than ten people, and they are all very proud to showcase their upcoming release.
Set on a humongous space station that's been on a course to some unknowable location for a few centuries already, INSOMNIA: The Ark is all about the slow and painful degeneration of the human society, and the remnants' attempts to survive in an abandoned and malfunctioning space metropolis.
The game's Kickstarter backers have already had a chance to play a small vertical slice of the game, and developers report that the players' feedback has been of immense use when it comes to polishing up core systems, gameplay and features.
Today marks the start of the next phase of beta testing INSOMNIA. Developers are inviting those who've signed up via the game's website to play through an early section of the game, and then report on their findings and experiences. A particular focus is being placed on the game's pacing and animation systems, which are already planned to receive a revision.
INSOMNIA: The Ark is slated for release by the end of the year, and will feature no less than 70 unique, hand-crafted locations, and a highly flexible - though somewhat linear - storyline with 12 different endings. All of this set in a neo-noir universe with added elements of dieselpunk, and a dash of post-apocalypse.
