Embracer Group – formerly known as THQ Nordic AB – has announced the acquisition of Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog alongside 11 other studios and PR firm Sandbox Strategies.
Polish developer Flying Wild Hog will be entirely owned by Embracer Group subsidiary Koch Media, following a deal worth $137.2 million with private equity firm Supernova Capital LLP.
The developer is currently working on four titles with publishers like Jagex, Focus Home Interactive, and Devolver Digital, one of which is first-person shooter Shadow Warrior 3.
Embracer Group Acquires 12 Studios

- IUGO Mobile Entertainment (The Walking Dead: Road to Survival)
- Purple Lamp Studios (The Guild 3, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated)
- Mad Head Games (Adam Wolfe, Pagan Online/Pagan: Absent Gods)
- 34BigThings (Redout)
- Nimble Giant Entertainment (Quantum League)
- Snapshot Games (Chaos Reborn, Phoenix Point)
- Zen Studios (Operencia: The Stolen Sun, CastleStorm 2)
- A Thinking Ape Entertainment (Casino X, Kingdom of Heckfire)
Following the acquisition spree, Embracer Group has announced that it has grown to a total of 58 internal studios and more than 5,700 employees.
These acquisitions were likely made with versatility in mind, seeing how it’s not limited to just development studios, including a Quality Assurance and Public Relations firm.
The developers listed above also specialize in a broad range of genres and cover a variety of platforms, from PC to consoles and mobile.
