Iceflake Studio’s Early Access title, Surviving the Aftermath has seen almost 7 months of Epic Games exclusivity. This comes to an end later in the year and the Steam release will be available on October 22nd 2020, 1 year after the game first appeared on the Epic Store.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led the CEO and Game Director Lasse Liljedahl to make “the difficult decision to push back the official launch of Surviving the Aftermath 1.0 to early 2021”. This means that the release heading to Steam will not be the finished game as originally intended, but rather an extension to the early access program.
Epic Exclusive Surviving the Aftermath gets a Steam Release date
The development cycle for Surviving the Aftermath has so far been considered quite the success, with a regular monthly update schedule, each adding a new aspect to the gameplay including vechiles, trading, an enchanced tech tree, society leaders, colonist behaviours, hostile wildlife, and combat. The current roadmap for the game shows a further 3 major updates based around Missions, your Homestead, and the Endgame.
“Among those features were several highly requested by the community, such as underground resource extractors, malnutrition, and prioritizing adding combat sooner rather than later. Some of these features started small, but have grown deeper and more intuitive with each update, and there are a lot of big things to come. But this is all just the beginning, players can look forward to new exploration mechanics, endgame, a quest system and more!”
If you don’t want to wait for the Steam October 22nd release, you can buy the game on Epic right now to eke out your survival in the post apocalyptic world.
