The Epic Games Store started building its reputation on its advantageous revenue split, exclusive titles, as well as a fairly generous list of free games, the latter of which will continue to grow in 2022.
The past year’s offerings featured both AAA heavy hitters as well as smaller indie gems and goodie packs for free-to-play titles. Until now, the Epic Games Store free games list routinely grew each week and we expect this to still be the case throughout 2022. Obtaining these titles is as simple as creating an EGS account, going to the free game’s store page, and following the same process as you would when purchasing it.
The games don’t cost anything, but it is worth noting that you will have to grab them at any point during the week in which they’re free. The Epic Games Store free games list of 2022 routinely gets new additions every Thursday, at 8 AM PT/4 PM GMT, although there have been some exceptions in the past.
It’s true that a few games were given away multiple times but, generally speaking, missing out on one means that you’ll have to rely on one of the Epic Games Store’s many sales to get it for a cheaper price.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Rogue Legacy

Rogue Legacy is a 2D rogue-lite which sees you playing as a family of knights. Every time one of your characters die, you continue playing as their child. This means you’ll have to head into danger as a character with different traits and, potentially, class, which keeps things fresh. The gold you gather during runs can be used to upgrade your manor, making you stronger for future runs and adding a sense of progression.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a first-person adventure game in which you attempt to solve the mystery of a missing boy through exploration and puzzle solving. Inspired by pulp, private eye, and horror fiction the title also boasts beautiful environments as well as a non-linear story with a thick atmosphere.
Insurmountable

Insurmountable is a rogue-like that puts you in the role of a solo climber looking to scale dangerous peaks. Procedurally generated environments require you to always consider the best approach to reaching the summit while making sure that your vitals don’t drop below critical values. Permadeath then adds an extra layer of challenge to each attempt.
XCOM 2

XCOM 2 puts you at the helm of a global resistance movement fighting against alien occupiers. From your mobile headquarters abard a converted alien supply craft called the Avenger, you decide where your next mission takes you as you attempt to get more people on your side. Amnesia: Rebirth

Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a PvPvE multiplayer heist game set during medieval times. Two teams of 4 players against each other and AI as they attempt to find riches and make off with them. Stealth can get you far but, when push comes to shove, brutality can also get the job done.

Killing Floor 2

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a remake of 1988’s Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap, featuring hand-drawn animations as well as a re-orchestrated soundtrack. Doom 64 is an improved version of the original game released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Its PC version comes with native 60 FPS support, better visuals, improved controls, widescreen resolution support, and other enhancements that might just make revisiting the classic first-person shooter worth it.
