The F1 2020 Podium Pass is one of several new features that developer Codemasters introduces in this year’s entry in its popular racing game series.
Following in the footsteps of other major titles, the F1 2020 Podium Pass is the series’ take on the battle pass, first introduced in DOTA 2 and popularized a few years ago by Fortnite.
Thus, F1 2020’s Podium Pass features a reward track comprised of multiple tiers through which players progress by simply taking part in races and completing challenges that earns XP. As you unlock tiers, you receive various cosmetic items for both cars and drivers.
F1 2020 Podium Pass
The F1 2020 Podium Pass refreshes every season and comes in two variants. The standard variant is free to all owners of the game while the VIP upgrade, which comes with “higher-level rewards and additional in-game challenges” needs to be purchased.
Pre-ordering F1 2020 prior to its July 10 release will grant enough credit to unlock the Season One VIP Podium Pass.
From there on, each VIP pass will reward you enough currency to purchase the next one, provided you play enough.
The cosmetic items that you can earn by progressing through tiers include “car liveries, race equipment such as gloves, overalls and helmets, and podium emotes”.
F1 2020 is due out on July 10 and is headed to PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Google Stadia.
