Fantasy General II was just announced by Slitherine, the developers of the recently-released WH40K: Gladius - Relics of War, and various other assorted turn-based classics such as Panzer Corps and Field of Glory.
This direct follow-up to Fantasy General from 1996 - which was described as the 'fantasy version of Panzer General' - is going to introduce the series to a younger generation of turn-based strategy aficionados, jam-packed with content and fun gameplay features, while still remaining true to its pedigree.
According to Slitherine, Fantasy General II is going to be true to its roots, with a hex-based tactical layout where over 75 different unit types will clash against one another. Also announced are the hero skill trees, which will help individualise player tactics on a meta-layer as well.
Game will also feature some type of decision-making in-between combat, with what sounds like light RPG elements making their way into the core gameplay experience. From the look of it, we are in for a King's Bounty sort of game, albeit a potentially more complex one at that.
Fantasy General II is being developed by Owned by Gravity, and the game already has a dedicated Steam page for you to keep track of, should you be so inclined. The game is primed to come out sometime in 2019, so it won't be that long of a wait at all.
