Far Cry 6 is out now and some players leading the revolution against Anton Castillo’s rule are having a hard time thanks to unusually high enemy respawn rates. The issue, which some attribute to a bug, popped up shortly after launch, leaving some players unable to clear larger camps.
Far Cry 6’s high enemy respawn rate seems to kick in when players move away from targets they’ve just killed. In smaller areas like checkpoints, this isn’t necessarily an issue, but the game’s larger camps can have a bit of ground to cover.
“Far Cry [6] basically respawns enemies you’ve killed if you move more than 20-30 feet away from their bodies,” Reddit user PJ_Heywood wrote. “Instantly. I kept running from one side of the lighthouse installation to the other constantly killing the same enemies over and over.”
The issue doesn’t seem to just be limited to open-world activities, either, also affecting players who take on the game’s missions.
“Just cleared Caul Villareal pretty early in the game. It was manned by maybe 8-10 bad guys, I took them all out silently, and as I went to investigate to (sic!) information I was there for, 10 more guys just spawned in the exact same places as the guys I just killed,” Reddit user koleke415 wrote. “They weren’t aware of my presence, or seeing any of the bodies. But some of them appeared within 10 feet of me out of the blue.”
Multiple threads bring up Far Cry 6’s enemy respawn rate, which led Ubisoft forums user vahndaar to do some testing, in hopes of figuring out how the system works.
According to their findings, which haven’t been officially confirmed, it’s entirely based on distance, enemy bodies despawning when the distance between them and the player is of 100 meters and the player looks away. They also claim that enemies have no issue spawning right in front of players, after the body has despawned.
A response from Ubisoft states that the developer is aware of the issue, investigating, and will provide an update as soon as it can.
We’ve been playing Far Cry 6 over the past week but haven’t encountered anything of the sort during our time in Yara. We’ve had no problem clearing camps and only felt like we had to kill more enemies than usual during a few mission segments. Nevertheless, here’s hoping it won’t be too long before a fix is deployed.
Far Cry 6 is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
