FFXIV’s Error 5003 has been plaguing players attempting to give the MMORPG a spin following the launch of its Endwalker expansion. The server congestion issues resulting from the game’s surge in popularity have resulted not just in long login queues, but the standard and complete editions of the game also being temporarily removed from sale.
Final Fantasy’s Error 5003 is one piece of that puzzle, due to how it can result in plenty of lost time for subscribed players patiently waiting to log in. Read on below to learn more about how it behaves, what causes it, and whether or not there’s a fix for it.
Login queues can take up to several hours of your time before letting adventure throughout Eorzea once more. What makes FFXIV’s Error 5003 particularly egregious is how it kicks you out of the queue once you’ve been waiting in it for a period of time it deems too long.
This is less than ideal, given how players can’t exactly control how much they need to wait, but publisher and developer Square Enix is aware of the issue and working on a fix.
“These errors occur when your connection to the login management server times out as a result of waiting in a login queue for extremely long periods of time,” a post on the Lodestone addressing Final Fantasy 14’s Error 5003, among other things, reads.
“Although we’d secured a considerably long session time with the lobby server; however, there are times this is still not enough to cover the issue, so we are currently working on a process to extend the session time. We apologise for the inconvenience, and ask that you to wait a little bit longer until this process is complete.”
This means that FFIXV’s Error 5003 is caused by issues on the developer’s side, so we’ll have to wait for it to implement a fix and expand server capacities. Square Enix is working on adding more servers, but it will certainly take longer than usual due to the global shortage of semiconductors.
This, unfortunately, means that there’s no fix or workaround to get you past Final Fantasy 14’s Error 5003. Your best bet is to either play outside of peak hours, when fewer people are attempting to log in, or keep your fingers crossed that you won’t get kicked out of the queue (and maybe ask your Lalafell pals to do the same).
